The Blue Sky String Girls
The Blue Sky String Girls are an all-female string quartet breaking down the barriers between classical and rock music. Their performances are dynamic, visually appealing and executed to the highest standard. The show E L glOw presents their own interpretations of the music of Jeff Lynne and the Electric Light Orchestra for acoustic strings.
What makes us unique?
We are a professional string quartet - but with the depth of sound provided by two cellos rather than two violins. We want to make music, particularly the atmospheric performances enhanced by candles and atmospheric lighting, more accessible to and to also elevate the music through detailed and challenging arrangements. Rather than a classical programme, we have (in this particular show although other programmes are available) our own arrangements of ELO classics. This show would appeal to a wide range of ages: Fans of the Electric Light Orchestra would enjoy the reinterpretation of this music, any lovers of string quartet music would appreciate the musicianship and arrangements in the performances and younger audiences would like the 'instagrammable' spectacle of candles and lighting effects.

Our tech requirements are minimal: We have battery operated candles and can provide our own coloured lighting (Beamz LED par cans). We can provide basic amplification for speaking and also pre-show music but we will use venue resources if any are available.

In addition to E L glOw, we have plans for other shows including '70s Glow' - featuring music from the 1970s, '80s Glow' - music from the 1980s and a 'Classics to Modern' performance in which the first half is classical string music (programme to include the Arensky String Quartet in A minor) and the second half is comprised of works for electric instruments.
